BOX OFFICE RESULTS FOR THE WEEKEND OF JULY 24-26
This weekend at the box office, talking guinea pig spies stole the top spot from the wizards of Hogwarts as G-Force had a strong debut at #1 knocking Mr. Potter and friends to second place. Katherine Heigl’s latest romantic comedy, The Ugly Truth, opened very well in third, while most people chose not to adopt new horror film, Orphan, which opened mildly in fourth place.

Just wanted to post a quick box office prediction for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  I think Potter will make about $60M on Wednesday and about $30M on Thursday to give it a whopping $90M heading into the weekend.  Come back Thursday for this weekend's predictions.

Get prepared for a comedy tsunami at the box office as Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno walks off the runway and into theatres this weekend. Can Cohen top the great success of his last comic masterpiece Borat? We’ll have to wait and see. Also opening this weekend is the highly unanticipated teen comedy; I Love You, Beth Cooper starring Hayden Panettierre of Heroes fame. Beth Cooper will make a minor debut and probably open up outside of the top 5. Let’s take a look.

The final figures are in and it turns out that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen narrowly defeated Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs to remain at #1 for the second weekend in a row.  The final tallies are:

Transformers 2 - $42.3M
Ice Age 3 - $41.7M
