BOX OFFICE PREDICTIONS FOR THE WEEKEND OF APRIL 2-4
This weekend three new movies are hitting multiplexes; the new version of Clash of the Titans in 3-D starring Sam Worthington, Tyler Perry’s sequel Why Did I Get Married Too? and The Last Song featuring Miley Cyrus in her first dramatic role which got a jump start on the holiday traffic, opening Wednesday.
As many of you know I’m on vacation this week and the Cantor Exchange isn’t open because they are gearing up for the opening of the real money trading site on April 22nd so I will be short and sweet this week. For further analysis you can check out this week’s episode of Box Office Bang Up with my co-host Frank Nocerino. This is only our third episode and we are still getting the feel for it and working out a lot of kinks but we’ll get there. I think the show is going to be great over time and very educational for those who want to learn the secret to predicting box office. That being said, we filmed this last week because of my vacation and we made a little mistake. When discussing The Last Song’s weekend box office potential, we failed to make it clear we were talking about the 5 day total and not the normal three day frame. Anyway here are this weekend’s predictions.
Clash of the Titans will clearly be #1 this weekend but how much of a box office titan will it actually be. There haven’t been any big budget action spectacles since Avatar on the big screen and that alone will bring people to theatres and ensure a sizable opening weekend. It will bring in the under 25 crowd while also playing to men in their 30’s who have fond memories of the original and younger boys will want to see it too. The 3-D will add some revenue, but the Easter holiday will ensure that Clash will open to smaller numbers than fellow sword and sandal epic, 300 ($70.9M). Look for Titans to make about $65M this weekend and be in for a hefty decline next weekend.
Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too? in my opinion will open with slightly more than the original ($21.4M). Look for an opening of about $26M.
Miley Cyrus’ The Last Song got off to a solid start on Wednesday collecting $5.1M. Look for the film to pull in about $18M over Friday to Sunday for a total of $26M over 5 days.
To see the rest of my predictions, check out the chart below.
Be sure and come back Monday for the results and follow me on Twitter for box office updates throughout the weekend.

Re: Predictions for the Weekend of April 2-4
The gear act of the 642-437 cinema becomes mired fallen by a triumph out between Britt and Kato that doesn't comprehend organic. Their bromance is 350-018 broken due to arts complications with Britt's new desk, Lenore Individual played by Cameron Diaz. Diaz doesn't screw that such concealment period and I initially wondered what attracted her
